Webinar BElovedBIRTH Black Centering: Supporting Black Birthing People to Live & Thrive
Description

The theme for this year’s Black Maternal Health Week is “Centering Black Mamas: The Right to Live & Thrive”. In honor of this theme, this webinar will introduce a new program called BElovedBIRTH Black Centering: Group Perinatal Care by, for, and with Black People. This program expands on the Centering model of care to provide holistic, culturally attuned and racially concordant perinatal care rooted in the frameworks of health equity, black feminism, reproductive justice, and research justice. Program aims include lifting up the community wisdom, voices, experiences, and expertise of Black birthing people, and reducing the impact of racism on maternal and infant health care experiences and outcomes. Based in Oakland California, BElovedBIRTH Black Centering is a collaboration between Highland Hospital- Alameda Health System, a safety-net healthcare provider, and the Alameda County Public Health Department.
